Competence means all those in caring roles must have the ability to understand an individual’s health and social needs and the expertise, clinical and technical knowledge to deliver effective care and treatments based on research and evidence.

Communication is central to successful caring relationships and to effective team working. Listening is as important as what we say and do and essential for "no decision about me without me". Communication is the key to a good workplace with benefits for those in our care and staff alike.

Courage enables us to do the right thing for the people we care for, to speak up when we have concerns and to have the personal strength and vision to innovate and to embrace new ways of working.

Compassionate Care

Recruiting people who demonstrate the attributes consistent with the values of the care industry is vital to maintain care standards and deliver high quality care.

The Compassionate Care Profile

The Compassionate Care Profile uses CAL Online, a reliable personality questionnaire, which has been mapped against the six fundamental values (the 6 Cs) underpinning the delivery of care within the NHS and care industry.

The 6 Cs

The 6Cs were designed by the NHS to address the need for enduring values of care which can underpin the delivery of care across the industry. Each of the values carries equal weight and naturally focuses on putting the person cared for at the heart of the care they are given.


6Cs & the Compassionate Care Profiler (CCP)

The CCP consists of 24 scales measuring the aspects of personality and motivation which link into the six different areas.

Each report is divided into the six areas and illustrates the individual’s preference and style in relation to the scales providing a valuable insight for your values-based recruitment process or to identify training needs.
