MSCEIT 2
Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test

About the MSCEIT 2

MSCEIT 2 (new for 2025!)

The MSCEIT 2 is the new version of the Mayer Salovey and Caruso emotional intelligence test (MSCEIT).

Definition of EI and its Importance

The ability-based model views EI as a unique intelligence, made up of measurable abilities. The approach is unique in that it views emotions and intelligence as working together, rather than being separate, or at odds with one another.

Ability-Based Model of EI

The MSCEIT 2 is based on an ability model of emotional intelligence (EI), which describes EI as the ability to both reason using emotions and reason about those emotions. Skills in this area are important as emotions contain data, including valuable information about you, your relationships, and the world around you.

MSCEIT 2 Model

The MSCEIT 2 assesses your ability to be smart with and about emotions in four domains: perceiving emotions, connecting emotions to other sensations, understanding complex emotions and the causes and transitions between emotions, and managing emotional data, to make optimal decisions.
